Committee Interest Form

We are looking for volunteers to serve on our standing committees. We believe that involvement in one of our committees will not only benefit the organization but also provide you with a rewarding experience.

Please join us via Zoom for an information session on February 26, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., to discuss opportunities to join the committees listed below.

Judiciary Committee – Evaluates candidates for judgeships in New York by serving on various screening panels and committees. It also recognizes newly elected, re-elected or appointed judges at an annual awards ceremony.

Historic Preservation Committee – Researches, documents, and records the history of the Puerto Rican Bar Association and those who impacted the legal profession and contributed to the long-standing history of the bar association.

CLE Committee – Coordinates and plans our CLE programs.

Community Affairs – Works with members of the community to address issues of concern.

Women’s Committee – Plans the Flor de Mago Awards ceremony and develops and implements plans to encourage and facilitate the empowerment of women in the legal profession.

Young Lawyers Committee – Promotes professional development and leadership by reaching out to new lawyers and presenting the tools they need to build successful careers. It provides mentoring, guidance, group support, and career planning to our newly licensed attorneys, thereby placing a well-cut keystone in the arch connecting their past achievements in college and law school to their future potential as attorneys. The PRBA Scholars Network, composed of former scholarship recipients, is a subset of this committee.
