Hon. Gloria Sosa-Lintner, PRBA President 1985 – 1986
Judge Gloria Sosa-Lintner was born in New York City and educated in the public school system. She was graduated from Barnard College in 1970 and New York University Law School in 1975.
Judge Sosa-Lintner began her legal career practicing labor and employment law. She also served as an Administrative Law Judge, a Special Referee, and a Hearing Examiner.
She was appointed as a Family Court Judge by Mayor Edward I. Koch in 1988, and reappointed in 1992 by Mayor David Dinkins. In October of 2002, Mayor Michael Bloomberg reappointed her until 8/30/12.
Peter M. Rivera, Esq., PRBA President 1983 – 1985
Peter Manuel Rivera was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 12, 1946. He migrated to New York City at an early age along with his mother, Candita; his father, Victor Manuel; and his sister, Lucy. A graduate of New York City public schools, Peter was awarded a Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration from Pace College in 1968, and, in 1974, was conferred a Juris Doctor from St. John’s Law School. He was admitted to practice law in March of 1975.
His career in public service began in the late 1960s as a police officer in the South Bronx. From a street patrolman, he quickly rose to the rank of detective. As a detective, his duties included serving as the Department’s radio and television spokesperson on issues pertinent to the Hispanic community.
Hon. Charles Tejada, PRBA President 1981 – 1983
On January 16th, 2009, we gathered at the New York County Lawyers’ Association (NYCLA) to celebrate the life of Justice Charles J. Tejada who left this world much too young at only 64 years old. He loved public service and was a great contributor to the community. He was also the President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association during its 25th Anniversary.
Judge Tejada most recently served as a Judge of the Court of Claims and Acting Supreme Court Justice in New York County since 1990; he was a judge since 1985 when he was appointed to the New York City Civil Court by then Mayor Edward I. Koch.
