The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York is hiring a court law clerk to specialize in state habeas cases, for a one-year term commencing in early October 2017. Training will take place the last week of September. This position is part of a pilot program aimed at reducing case backlogs, particularly impacting habeas petitions. The Court seeks law school graduates with at least two years of work experience. Experience with habeas petitions is a plus, but not required. The clerk works independently for different judges sitting in the Brooklyn Federal Court. However, the position is supervised by and case assignments will come through Chief Judge Dora L. Irizarry.
