IMMIGRANT RIGHTS SENIOR ATTORNEY and PROJECT LEADER
Yonkers, NY – Full time, Exempt position
Empire Justice Center, a highly respected, statewide nonprofit law firm, is seeking an Immigrant Rights Senior

The Empire Justice Center has been designated by New York State to help launch a new Liberty Defense
Project aimed at providing needed legal assistance to immigrants at risk of deportation, in need of status
adjustment, eligible for special visa protections (U, T, VAWA), able to petition for Special Immigrant Juvenile
(SIJ) or in need of other immigration-related legal assistance.
The Senior Attorney sought for this position will serve as the overall Project Manager which will include
supervision of project staff in the Hudson Valley and Long Island, management and oversight of subcontracting
organizations in those regions and in the Capital District, Syracuse and Rochester, and oversight
responsibility for data collection and reporting of overall contract deliverables on a monthly and quarterly basis.
The Senior Attorney will have a limited case load to ensure time for supervision and management of this
Primary responsibilities will include:
• Community relations with organizations in the Hudson Valley serving the needs of immigrant
• Management and monitoring of grant deliverables
• Data collection and drafting of reports as needed for grant
• Supervision of Project staff
• Providing direct representation to immigrants in:
o Federal Court appeals
o Administrative appeals
o Removal proceedings
o Ancillary family court proceedings (SUS)

Candidates for this position will possess:
• Supervisory and project management experience
• Admitted to practice in New York, with at least 9 (nine) years relevant work experience
• Ability to produce high quality written material, meet tight deadlines, and to work both
independently and as part of a team
• Strong analytical and writing skills
• Experience in interviewing and counseling clients
• Ability to speak and understand Spanish
