Bienvenidos, Shalom, Konichiwa, Benvenuto, Welcome in any language to the Puerto Rican Bar Association. It is my privilege to welcome you to the largest ethnic bar association in New York State and my honor to serve as its 61st President. Since founded in 1957, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, Inc. (“the PRBA”) has focused its efforts on serving the public and community at large through its leadership, advocacy, legal education and community service. The mission of the PRBA has been to advocate for justice, equality and diversity for 61 years. The PRBA has been in the forefront working to secure and strengthen resources to assure people of diverse backgrounds are treated equally and have equal access to justice.
The Puerto Rican Bar Association, Inc. (PRBA) was founded in 1957 by a group of Puerto Rican and Latino attorneys who began gathering socially to offer one another both personal and professional support in an era when it was difficult for attorneys of color to be accepted as members in established bar associations.
