The Puerto Rican Bar Association, along with other esteemed bar associations, supports the passage of the New York State Judicial Security Act (Assembly Bill A7600) as part of the FY 2025 Executive Budget. This act aims to enhance the safety and security of judges, court officials, and their families.
The Judicial Security Act includes provisions to safeguard personally identifiable information, prevent unauthorized sharing of such information, and increase penalties for threats against judges. Recent incidents underscore the urgent need for this legislation to protect our judiciary from threats and violence.
The Associations call for swift enactment of the Judicial Security Act to uphold judicial independence and ensure the integrity of our legal system.
